Costa Rica is home to one of the few known “super pods” of Spinner Dolphins, numbering in the thousands and living in a large band of water off the mid-southern Costa Rican Pacific coast. From January through April, these playful dolphins will entertain you for hours with their jumps, spins, breaches, and tricks and are always accompanied by large schools of yellowfin tuna. While most of the world’s spinner dolphins are more oceanic, the Costa Rican Spinner Dolphin’s (Stenella longirostinis) proximity to the coast gives us an incredible opportunity to observe them and take part in their antics. Whether you watch from the boat, or you jump in the water for a snorkel, you are guaranteed a view of dolphins as far as the eye can see.
This full day tour must be set up in advance to coincide with the cruising plans of the yacht, and includes the use of a spotter plane and sport fisher boat to locate the pod and communicate the exact location to the yacht. Once the dolphins are found the guests can stay with them as long as they like.
