  • Spectacular encounter with nature
  • Up to thousands of nesting sea turtles
  • 1 ½ hour drive south
  • Seasonal from July through December

The Ostional Wildlife Refuge, located approximately 1 ½ hours south of Playas del Coco, offers an amazing opportunity to see nature at its finest.

During the months of July through December Ostional sees its largest “arribadas”, or “egg-laying seasons”, where you can witness up to thousands of Olive Ridley Sea Turtles make their way up the beach to dig their nests and lay their eggs.

Baby turtles hatch along the coast of Costa RIca.

These arribadas are synchronized with the phases of the moon and the tides, and the best time to visit Ostional is at the start of the last quarter moon during the nesting season.

We are happy to organize transportation, lodging (if necessary) and guided tours to Ostional Wildlife Refuge to witness this spectacular occurrence. It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see thousands of sea turtles laying their eggs in their natural habitat.
